My Practice

My core approach is psychodynamic - this means, at least to some extent, considering the impact of early years and experience on our present sense of ourselves in the world, and our relationships with others.

Understanding the origin of feelings and emotions that feel painful or confusing can help to make important changes in our lives.

Although this is the core of my approach, there is flexibility and I will always try to work with what you need from our sessions.

I have worked with a wide variety of issues/presentations, including:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Difficulties in relationships and/or relating to others

  • Sexuality and sexual orientation

  • Gender identity and gender diversity

  • Loss

  • Separation

  • Responses to climate breakdown and global instability

  • Family breakdown

  • Childhood abuse

  • Domestic Abuse

  • Discrimination, including the impact of racism and racial inequality

  • Social anxiety and isolation

  • Diagnosed/undiagnosed autism, ADHD and other neurodiversities

  • Academic pressure and expectation from family/self

  • Identity and sense of self

  • Transitions in late adolescence/early adulthood

  • Self harm

  • Body image and eating disorders

This list is not exhaustive.

If I consider a referral/signposting to a specialist service or within the NHS is more appropriate, I will aim to help with this.
